Alberta Health Card, How To Apply?

From the moment they land in Alberta, permanent residents who intend to make the province their home are entitled to provincial health coverage. Your spouse, kids, or any dependents would also be qualified as permanent residents. However, you must apply for AHCIP within the first three months after relocating to Alberta to make a claim for coverage. In order to be eligible for health insurance, temporary workers must have a work permit that is valid for at least six months and have a 12-month stay in Alberta planned.

AHCIP is available to foreign students who are at least 18 years old and have a 12-month study permit at an educational institution in Alberta. You might still be qualified to apply if you’re an international student with permission valid for three to eleven months. A letter stating your intention to stay in Alberta for at least a year must be given to AHCIP.

  • Amass the necessary paperwork.
  • Fill out the application (one for each family).
  • Send the application form and supporting documents by mail or deliver them in person to a registrar’s office.
  • You’ll receive your Alberta Personal Health Cards in the mail.
